The International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) empowers youth through education, innovation, and global collaboration, connecting thousands of students worldwide who are passionate about agriculture, sustainability, and societal impact. IAAS encourages young people to engage actively in shaping solutions for pressing global challenges. Through its initiatives, such as the Village Concept Projects, No Food Waste, Women in Agriculture, IAAS Delta Projects, and One Health Projects, IAAS fosters hands-on learning experiences, community impact, and innovation. These initiatives enable students to bring forward-ground level insights and solutions that are both sustainable and practical, transforming academic knowledge into real-world impact. IAAS recognizes that while youth form a large portion of the world’s population, their voices are often overlooked in decision-making spaces—whether at the policy level or within community development frameworks. Despite being key stakeholders with valuable perspectives and solutions, youth face barriers to representation and advocacy on critical issues affecting agriculture, climate, and rural livelihoods. This side event at COP 29 in Baku, centered on youth perspectives, aims to address these challenges by providing a platform for young people to amplify their voices, share their innovative projects, and advocate for greater involvement in policy and decision-making processes.
