Empowering Global Youth for Climate Action: The Impact and Future of SUAD YouthCOP
This side event presents the impactful results of the SUAD Youth COP, an international, virtual mock negotiation simulating the Conference of the Parties (COP) climate summit. This innovative program engages students worldwide, empowering them to address urgent environmental challenges and experience the complexities of global climate negotiation. The top participants, representing Brazil, India, Ireland, and France, have been awarded the opportunity to attend the real COP, where they will present this year’s Youth Declaration - a collaborative document reflecting the priorities and demands of young climate advocates from diverse regions. The 2024 declaration focuses on key issues such as energy transition, ocean conservation, and biodiversity preservation, embodying the voices and solutions of a generation deeply committed to environmental stewardship and action. Through this event, these young leaders will share their perspectives and proposed actions for a sustainable future, contributing their unique insights to the global climate dialogue at COP29.
