Youth championing an integrated approach to addressing the climate and biodiversity crises

Solving climate change, biodiversity loss and development in Africa cannot be separated. They must be done in tandem, simultaneously and with equal urgency. The youth voice in both discourses is equally relevant. The youth voice in the CBD process is championed by the Global Youth Biodiversity Network, and in the UNFCCC process, it is championed by YOUNGO and other feeding networks globally. These networks independently have Africa level structures and in some cases, country level structures. Bringing a combined youth voice into the nature and climate space at the national, regional and international level gives strength to both streams of youth action. This side event aims at highlighting the importance of integrated interventions and approaches in tackling the climate change and biodiversity crises by bringing together youth entities to not only showcase the potential in integrated approach amongst the youth demographic, but also champion the co-implementation of the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
